The Maricopa County Sheriff's Office (MCSO) has launched an investigation into a rideshare driver accused of sexually assaulting a 21-year-old woman. The suspect, identified as 33-year-old Lemolineaux Bain, is currently being sought by authorities after fleeing law enforcement efforts to detain him for questioning. ABC15 reported that the victim's recollection of the incident is limited due to her intoxication but she was able to report that the assault occurred after she requested a ride home following a night out.

According to FOX10 Phoenix, the incident took place in the north valley area of Phoenix on Oct. 12. It wasn't until the victim reached her home that her parents inadvertently interrupted what was happening, leading to a confrontation with Bain. Further details about the specific location or the timing of the events have not been disclosed by MCSO.

During their ongoing investigation, detectives uncovered information suggesting that there may be additional victims. Both sources indicate that these individuals might not remember the incidents due to intoxication or may feel hesitant to come forward. Officials with Uber have responded to the allegations, saying, "We are appalled by what’s been reported. This behavior has no place in our society or on the Uber platform and we banned the driver as soon as it was reported to us." Uber also confirmed that all its drivers go through a background check process, including annual re-screening and continuous monitoring for new offenses.

MCSO is calling on the public to assist in locating Bain and encourages anyone with knowledge of his whereabouts, or who may have been a victim, to come forward. "The Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office is urging anyone who knows Bain’s location, may have been a victim, or who has information regarding inappropriate or criminal behavior involving this driver, to come forward immediately," a portion of the statement reads. Tips can be submitted to MCSO at (602) 876-1011, or anonymously at 602-876-TIPS. The authorities emphasize that even minor details might be crucial in advancing their investigation.
