Marietta's Ugly Holiday Sweater Parade is officially back by popular demand. Slated to be a standout fixture of the City’s Christmas Tree Lighting festivities happening Thursday, December 4. This whimsical event will surely bring a dash of lightheartedness to the commencement of this year's holiday season.
According to the City of Marietta, participants are invited to "break out your ugliest (family-appropriate!) holiday sweater" and join Saint Nick in a parade that promises to embody the spirit of community and yuletide glee. With festivities beginning at 5:00 PM from Marietta City Hall, the parade will wend its way through downtown Marietta, offering an opportunity for anyone keen to revel in holiday cheer to do so.
The Ugly Sweater Parade is part of a long-standing local tradition featuring choir performances, a visit from Santa, and the lighting of the Christmas tree at Glover Park. Individuals, groups, organizations, businesses, and clubs are invited to participate by submitting a completed application to Marietta Parks, Recreation & Facilities before the stated deadline, as noted in the official announcement. The parade follows a short 0.4-mile route, beginning at Marietta City Hall, moving west along Lawrence Street, circling the Square, and ending at Glover Park via East Park Square.
