Mayor Muriel Bowser along with a coalition of leaders from the workforce, economic development sectors, and various partnerships spanning educators, non-profits and businesses across the DC metro area, took the wraps off of a major initiative today. Dubbed Talent Capital, it's a brand new, region-wide program designed to bolster workforce and economic development in the nation's capital and its adjoining regions. This innovative effort is being coordinated by the Metropolitan Washington Council of Governments (COG).
"In Washington, DC, we know that talent is our greatest asset, and that every Washingtonian deserves the opportunity to succeed," Mayor Bowser said. The Mayor touted the program as a way for locals to secure quality jobs, advance in their careers, and drive innovation in key sectors while remaining in the area they call home. The hope is that Talent Capital will be a catalyst for economic mobility and broader opportunities throughout the region, according to the Mayor's Office.
The centerpiece of this initiative is the TalentCapital.AI website, developed by local tech firm BuildWithin. The site offers advanced, AI-powered tools for job matching, training, and career development. Users can access these services for free and benefit from the added touch of personalized support from various partner organizations within the District, Maryland, and Virginia.
