The Memphis Safe Task Force seized more than 40 pounds of methamphetamine during a traffic stop on Shelby Drive, leading to the arrest of two suspects. The individuals, identified as 23-year-olds Alan Martinez-Deanda and Jose Felipe-Baeza-Garcia, are now facing charges, according to Action News 5

During a traffic stop on Wednesday, officers searched the vehicle and found about 44 pounds of methamphetamine in the trunk. A U.S. Marshals Service spokesperson said the drugs were packed in several taped bundles and placed on top of a spare tire, as shown in a photo released by authorities, as reported by FOX13 Memphis.

Deputy Director Stephanie Creasy of the U.S. Marshals Service said, “The seizure of this significant quantity of methamphetamine and the arrest of these individuals reflects the unwavering commitment of the Memphis Safe Task Force to disrupt drug trafficking networks and protect our communities,” noting that the task force has so far made 1,267 arrests, seized 239 firearms, taken 104 known gang members into custody, and located 67 missing children, as detailed by WREG. She also stated that “we are sending a clear message that law enforcement stands united in its mission to safeguard Memphis and restore peace where it’s needed most.”
