
A 21-year-old man from Merrillville, Indiana, was formally charged in connection with a Chicago shooting that occurred this past August, resulting in the fatality of a young man and severe injuries to another. Identified as Lorenzo Lancaster, of the 100 block of E. 58th St., the accused is facing gravely serious charges: one count of first-degree murder, one count of attempted first-degree murder, and one count of armed robbery, as reported by the Chicago Police Department.
The accused was apprehended on October 21, 2025, through the combined efforts of the Chicago Police Department and the U.S. Marshals Great Lakes Regional Fugitive Task Force. The incident in question took place in the 5000 block of W. Maypole, where an 18-year-old was fatally shot and another barely survived the ordeal. According to a statement from the Chicago Police, Lancaster's arrest occurred in Crown Point, Indiana, underlining a cross-state pursuit of justice.
Following his arrest, Lancaster's legal journey will continue, and he is scheduled for a detention hearing at 2600 S. California today.
