The pendulum of justice has swung back toward neutral for Miami Dolphins assistant coach Ryan Crow, with Broward County prosecutors deciding to drop the misdemeanor domestic battery charge against him. NBC Miami reported that the decision comes after the alleged victim in the case was uncooperative and adamant about not wanting charges filed.
Despite the absence of legal action, Crow's career remains in limbo as the NFL conducts its own investigation into the August incident, which involved accusations of slapping, choking, and slamming his girlfriend. As stated by Dolphins coach Mike McDaniel, and echoed by CBS Sports, "We won't even bridge that until the league is done with their process."
The altercation in question reportedly unfolded after a Dolphins work party, leading to Crow's arrest on August 28. In a memo detailing the case's closure, prosecutors pointed out the lack of clear evidence for conviction. "Neither the witnesses, nor the video surveillance, clearly establish that a battery occurred without the cooperation of the victim to describe step by step what transpired," the memo read. This uncertainty has cleared the path for a legal exoneration of Crow, at least for the time being, as noted by CBS Sports.
Despite the charge being dropped, the Dolphins have not altered Crow's status, keeping him on indefinite leave. With Crow sidelined, the outside linebackers have been under the temporary guidance of defensive assistant Sean Ryan. Crow, a seasoned coach who brought his expertise from a six-year stint with the Tennessee Titans to the Dolphins in 2024, now awaits the next move from the NFL before potentially resuming his career.
