A Milwaukee man has been charged in connection with three fatal shootings that occurred within about an hour last Sunday night, according to multiple reports. The Milwaukee County District Attorney’s Office announced that 26-year-old Michael Williams faces three counts of first-degree intentional homicide. Court documents show that the shootings happened on Milwaukee’s north side, with two around 9:20 p.m. and the third about an hour later.
WISN reported that the first victims, Marcus C. Smith, 64, and Sandy N. Lee, 50, were found near 27th Street and Atkinson Avenue. The third victim, Lakendrick Roby, 44, was discovered near 31st Street and Glendale Avenue. Surveillance footage and witness accounts linked Williams to the crimes, showing a suspect wearing distinctive multicolored Puma shoes and a hoodie with designs.
According to TMJ4, security video from both crime scenes helped investigators connect Williams to the shootings. A witness who identified himself as Williams’ nephew told investigators that Williams had been struggling with mental health and substance abuse issues and had recently made threats toward family members.
FOX 6 Now reported that surveillance footage captured Lee being chased and shot on the sidewalk. Williams is in custody and faces life imprisonment if convicted. He is scheduled to appear in court as the investigation continues.
