Minneapolis residents are advised to exercise caution during their morning commute today due to low visibility conditions. According to the National Weather Service Twin Cities/Chanhassen MN, areas of dense fog are expected to persist until 10 AM CDT. This fog could reduce visibility to a quarter mile or less, potentially creating hazardous driving conditions.
The dense fog advisory encompasses broad regions, including "central and southern Minnesota, and west central Wisconsin," per the advisory statement. Motorists are advised to slow down, use headlights, and maintain a safe following distance from the car in front of them.
On a brighter note, no hazardous weather is predicted following the dissipation of the fog, with a 10% chance of precipitation later in the day. Minneapolis can expect "a slight chance of sprinkles between 3pm and 5pm, then a slight chance of rain after 5pm," as reported by the National Weather Service. The rest of the week seems to offer a mix of clouds and sun, with slight chances of rain and highs ranging from 47 to 58 degrees.
While dense fog may impose an immediate challenge, conditions are set to improve, offering what looks like a relatively mild close to the week for Minneapolitans. The forecast shows intermittent fog throughout the week, particularly before morning hours; however, no other severe weather hazards are anticipated. Residents should remain alert for any updates or changes to the weather outlook.
