
Minneapolis is reminding voters of the importance of checking their registration status before the impending Municipal Election. With the convenience of same-day registration in Minnesota, residents still have the benefit of early registration until October 14, essentially cutting down time spent at polls and circumventing the need for additional documents on the day of. As reported by the city's news release, registering ahead of the November 4 election date is highly encouraged.
Online registration is open until 11:59 p.m. on the 14th, and paper submissions need to be physically delivered to election offices by 5 p.m. that same day. Verification of one's registration is just a few clicks away with online services provided by the city. For those who find themselves not pre-registered post-deadline, there are still pathways to register: at an early voting location, during mail-in voting, or directly at the polling place when voting in person on Election Day, equipped with proof of residency.
Meanwhile, early voting has kicked off, allowing voters to mail in their ballots or drop them off in person at the Early Vote Center located at 980 East Hennepin Ave. By the close of October 9, the count of accepted ballots reached 5,279. Voters have until November 4 to ensure their mail-in ballots are received, with the recommendation that completed ballots be sent back by October 28, to mitigate postal delays. In-person delivery of mail ballots is also an option, but they must be returned to the Elections & Voter Services office by 5 p.m. on Election Day; they will not be accepted at polling places or Hennepin County on Election Day.
