Voters in Minnetonka can cast their ballots early for the city's municipal elections, as of Oct. 17, plenty of time before the official Election Day on Nov. 4, the City of Minnetonka reports. This year, the mayoral seat along with two at-large council positions are on the line, and for those looking to beat the Election Day rush, the option to vote in-person or via mail will be available through Nov. 3.

Eager constituents can deposit their ballots directly into the tabulator at the Minnetonka Community Center, from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday, and there will be extended voting hours on Saturday, Nov. 1, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., and also on Monday, Nov. 3, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., if you're looking to slide your civic duty in just under the wire, the Minnetonka Community Center is located at 14600 Minnetonka Blvd. Registration to vote closed on Oct. 14, but same-day registration remains an option as long as proof of residence is provided.

For those uncertain about what they will find on the ballot, the Minnesota Pollfinder is a tool that can aid voters to preview their ballot choices, specifically in these local elections where the mayor and two at-large council seats are up for grabs according to the City of Minnetonka's announcement.

One significant change in this year's Minnetonka municipal election is the implementation of ranked choice voting (RCV) for the mayoral and at-large council member races, this is an opportunity for voters to rank candidates in order of preference rather than choosing just one, although it's worth noting that school board races do not use RCV, more information about the elections and the RCV process can be found on the Minnetonka city website.
