Early this morning, a school bus crash in southwest Charlotte caused traffic delays and left one person with minor injuries. QC News reported that the accident occurred before 7 a.m. on Majestic Oaks Drive near South Tryon Street and involved a Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools bus and a pickup truck. Medic confirmed one minor injury, while the school district stated that no students were on the bus at the time.
The bus was headed to Palisades High School when the crash occurred. According to WSOCT-TV, the impact blocked the inbound lanes of South Tryon Street, causing temporary traffic disruptions.
WCNC reported that Palisades High School Principal Olejarczyk sent a message to families confirming that Bus 83 was struck by a pickup truck and that no students were injured. The principal assured families that safety remains the school’s top priority.
The roadway remained closed for a period as emergency crews assisted those involved and cleared the scene. The cause of the crash is still under investigation, and further details about the injured individual’s condition have not yet been released.
