Constable deputies from Harris County had a bit of an unusual chase on their hands this past Sunday when a motorcyclist decided a traffic stop was not in his evening plans. The incident, which took place on the FM 1960 Bypass Road East, saw deputies attempt to stop the motorcycle for undisclosed reasons, before the driver elected to spur a pursuit, leading officials on a merry chase that culminated in a parking lot where he rode in circles until deputies were able to safely detain him, as reported on Constable Mark Herman's Facebook page.
Once the deputies had subdued the suspect, Christopher Silva, he made it evident through his demeanor that he was under the influence, exhibiting clear signs of intoxication; despite the danger he posed, they were able to conclude the apprehension without incident. The traffic stop quickly turned into a tense pursuit, prompting deputies to act carefully due to the dangers of impaired driving. Sobriety tests later confirmed that Silva was intoxicated.
The revelation from officials grew grimmer as it surfaced that this was not Silva's first offense of this nature. A deeper look into his record revealed a past tainted by similar misconduct, marking this incident as the second time he has been caught driving while intoxicated. “Christopher Silva was arrested and booked into the Harris County Jail, charged with Fleeing Police Officer and Driving While Intoxicated – 2nd Offense,” Constable Herman's Office stated. The report noted that Silva’s bail was set at $200.00 out of County Court 14. They also highlighted their mobile app, “C4 NOW,” which provides live updates on arrests, crime alerts, and safety information.
