A fatal collision occurred at the intersection of Normandy Boulevard and Verna Boulevard, resulting in the death of a motorcyclist yesterday night. First Coast News reports that the motorcyclist was traveling westbound on Normandy when a semi-tractor, heading eastbound, collided with the motorcycle.
According to the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office (JSO), the semi was navigating the center lane while the motorcycle was in the inside lane. The vehicles crashed in the inside lane, as obtained by News4Jax. Following the incident, the unnamed motorcyclist, a man in his early 20s, was transported to the hospital by Jacksonville Fire Rescue crews.
The young man succumbed to his injuries in the hospital after the crash, a tragedy that amplifies conversations around roadway safety for motorcyclists. Action News Jax states that the motorcycle struck the front of the semi before the rider was pronounced dead a short time later at the hospital.
