The Metropolitan Police Department is actively investigating a homicide following a violent altercation on Benning Road in Northeast D.C. Per the official release provided by MPD's press statement, police responded to a call about a fight on Thursday, October 16, 2025. When officers arrived at the scene, around the 1600 block of Benning Road, they discovered an adult male with fatal stab wounds.
Despite the immediate response from DC Fire and EMS, 51-year-old Timothy Sistrunk, identified as the victim, was pronounced dead at the scene. Sistrunk, whom the police say had no fixed address, met an untimely end, and now investigators are to thoroughly comb through the details that led to this tragic event. Details around the homicide are still scant, but MPD has publicly announced a reward of up to $25,000 for information which leads to an arrest and conviction.
Authorities are urging those with knowledge of the incident to step forward, emphasizing that any potential witnesses should not take action on their own. Instead, individuals are asked to call the police at (202) 727-9099 or to send tips via text message to the Department's dedicated TEXT TIP LINE at 50411.
As the investigation unfolds, MPD is determined to bring to justice the person or persons responsible. The promise of a $25,000 reward stands as a testament to their commitment to solving this case and, perhaps, a deterrent to future crimes committed in the District of Columbia.
