James emphasized in a press release, "Every New Yorker has the right to live without fear or intimidation," highlighting the commitment to reviewing the legality of ICE operations in New York.
The newly launched online reporting tool enables individuals to submit evidence of potential rights violations directly to the Attorney General's office. The portal aims to support transparency and accountability in immigration enforcement within the city. According to James, the submitted documentation will be used to review reports and evaluate any possible legal violations.
New York remains a sanctuary city amid ongoing tensions between local authorities and federal immigration agencies. According to a press release from James, "No one should be subject to unlawful questioning, detention, or intimidation."
