A newborn baby girl was found abandoned on the steps of a Manhattan subway station today. The discovery occurred around 9:30 a.m. at 34th Street and 7th Avenue station near Penn Station, as commuters passed by during the morning rush, according to CBS News New York.
The infant, described as a newborn, was found on the staircase leading to the southbound 1, 2, and 3 train platforms. According to the NYPD, there was no parent or guardian present, and the baby was wrapped only in a blanket. Officers responded to the scene and transported the child to Bellevue Hospital. As reported by ABC7 New York, the baby was conscious and alert when found and is currently in stable condition.
