Last night, the Long Beach Police Department (LBPD) responded to a reported shooting in the city, thankfully resulting in no injuries. According to the police blotter released by LBPD, the incident occurred in the early hours on the 1700 block of Caspian Avenue.
The call came in at around 1:53 a.m., with officers arriving on site to find evidence of a shooting. The situation arose from what started as a verbal argument between two male adults. Unfortunately, the confrontation escalated quickly, and the suspect decided to, quite recklessly, discharge a firearm towards an unspecified direction before fleeing the scene, the LBPD blotter stated.
No victims were struck by the gunfire, and no property damage has been reported. The police have not yet released descriptions of the suspect or confirmed if anyone was targeted specifically in the incident.
Details on the ongoing investigation are scant as authorities continue to piece together what transpired during the hours of darkness. The LBPD is actively working to uncover the full narrative, urging anyone with information to come forward. They are specifically interested in speaking with anyone who may have, even tangentially, witnessed the shooting or any related events leading up to it.
Long Beach residents are filled with relief that the situation did not escalate further to result in loss of life or serious injury. The LBPD is calling for the community's cooperation to help ensure their neighborhood's safety and capture those responsible for such criminal actions.
