Robin Roberts and George Stephanopoulos are set to receive side-by-side stars on the Hollywood Walk of Fame Thursday morning, marking the latest honor for the Good Morning America anchors who have shared the desk together since 2009. The double ceremony is scheduled for 11:30 a.m. PT, with their Good Morning America co-anchor Michael Strahan on hand to emcee the event.
The pair will be honored with the 2,862nd and 2,863rd stars placed on the famed sidewalk, according to the Hollywood Walk of Fame, which lists the ceremony address as 6920 Hollywood Boulevard near the historic El Capitan Theatre. Good Morning America, however, has reported the stars will be located at 6290 Hollywood Boulevard, also near the El Capitan Theatre — a discrepancy that remains unresolved between the two accounts. Roberts and Stephanopoulos will receive their stars in the Television category, per the Walk of Fame's announcement.
A Star-Studded Guest List
Michael J. Fox, Niecy Nash-Betts and Debra OConnell, chairman of Disney Entertainment Television, are slated as guest speakers for Thursday's event, according to Good Morning America. Nash-Betts, who appeared on GMA Wednesday to promote the second season of her Hulu show All's Fair, told the program that Roberts is getting a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. Roberts responded that Nash-Betts kindly introduced her partly because Nash-Betts already has her own star on the Walk of Fame.
Roberts kept her reaction simple and enthusiastic, saying, “LA here we come.” The ceremony is scheduled to be livestreamed at walkoffame.com starting at 11:30 a.m. PT, giving fans outside Los Angeles a way to watch the honor unfold in real time.
Nearly Two Decades of Shared Airtime
Roberts and Stephanopoulos have co-anchored Good Morning America together since 2009, guiding viewers through major stories in politics, culture and entertainment during that stretch. Ana Martinez, in a statement included in the Walk of Fame's press release, said the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce is proud to welcome Roberts and Stephanopoulos to the Walk of Fame. Martinez described the pair as trusted voices in American journalism who connect with audiences through integrity, compassion and storytelling.
Martinez added that honoring the two anchors with a double star celebrates their broadcasting contributions and their impact on viewers nationwide. The joint ceremony is a rare format for the Walk of Fame, reflecting the length and visibility of Roberts and Stephanopoulos' on-air partnership atop one of network television's most-watched morning programs.
