Residents of North Bend have the chance to declutter and recycle responsibly this Saturday, thanks to two free events aimed at waste management and document disposal. The city's Public Works building, stationed at 1155 E North Bend Way, opens its precincts for yard waste recycling from 8 a.m. to noon; concurrently, City Hall, located at 920 SE Cedar Falls Way, will be hosting a Shred-it event during the same hours, as detailed on the City of North Bend's official website.
At the Public Works building, participants can drop off common garden refuse which includes grass clippings, leaves, weeds, branches and limbs—provided they adhere to size specifications, the accepted limit for branches and limbs is 3 inches in diameter and up to 3 feet long but it should be noted that the city will not be accepting large branches, sod, or dirt, rocks, concrete, asphalt, wood or stumps, trash, construction debris, manure, or plastic bags and remember, entry is via North Bend Way only.
The complementary shred event at City Hall invites residents to securely dispose of outdated or unnecessary paper documents. People are encouraged to bring up to two file boxes or three grocery bags' worth of paper for shredding. However, certain items won't make the cut; the shredding service will not accept stiff metal, plastic bags, or DVDs as per the guidelines mentioned on the city's resource page.
These community-focused events not only provide a practical way for North Bend citizens to tidy up their homes and yards, but also reinforce the city's environmental commitment by encouraging recycling and offering secure document destruction, this is a perfect opportunity for residents to dispose of unwanted materials in an environmentally friendly manner and also protect their personal information through secure document shredding; actions that collectively exemplify the city's approach towards sustainable living, and material mindfulness.
