In response to the recent suspension of SNAP benefits, North Las Vegas has initiated a series of temporary food distribution events. These efforts are the result of a partnership between the city, Three Square Food Bank, and The Just One Project. North Las Vegas residents in need can rely on several locations throughout the city to access food support during this time.
Among the available resources is the Just One Project Distribution at the Dolores Huerta Resource Center located at 1737 Hunkins Dr. The center is open to the community on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays from 4-7 p.m., and Saturdays from 10 a.m.-12 p.m. An additional distribution point hosted by Three Square operates at the Veterans & Community Resource Center. You can find this center at 3090 E Centennial Pkwy, with distribution times on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 9-11 a.m. The City of North Las Vegas has announced that these initiatives are in place until federal SNAP benefits are reinstated.
Furthermore, residents can also visit the Neighborhood Recreation Center at 1638 N Bruce St for distributions every other Thursday starting November 6, from 11 a.m. - 1 p.m. Similarly, the Silver Mesa Recreation Center at 4025 Allen Ln will host food distributions every other Thursday beginning November 13, also from 11 a.m. - 1 p.m. These supplements to the city's social safety net come at a critical juncture when federal aid has faltered temporarily.
The College of Southern Nevada, at 3200 E. Cheyenne Ave., will feature a Three Square Emergency Distribution Pop-Up on Saturday, November 1. To assist residents in finding the nearest food support location, Three Square has a "food finder" map updated daily on their website. Numerous additional food pantry locations are operational across the city, each with specific hours and eligibility requirements. These requirements often include providing a valid identity document and sometimes proof of residency. Resource centers like Calvary Downtown Outreach, James Boys & Girls Clubs, and several others are part of this network striving to ensure that no residents are left without essential sustenance during these trying times.
