The North Las Vegas Police Department partnered with other law enforcement agencies across Nevada from September 5 through September 30 in a campaign focused on pedestrian safety, aiming to reduce pedestrian-involved crashes through education and enforcement, as reported by the North Las Vegas Police Department. Officers from the Traffic Division and Motors Unit targeted high-risk violations, including failing to yield, speeding in pedestrian areas, and distracted driving.
During five "enforcement events," the North Las Vegas Police Department issued 130 citations, made 3 arrests, and handed out 53 warnings to promote safer streets. The campaign focuses on the shared responsibility of drivers and pedestrians in maintaining road safety.
The department's campaign also resulted in 112 citations and 19 warnings, focusing on school zones, high-crash areas, and other locations with complaints, according to the North Las Vegas Police Department on their Facebook page. They said, "huge shout out to our Traffic Division officers for their dedication and commitment to protecting our community."
