Residents of North Las Vegas can look forward to the city's third annual Thanksgiving turkey giveaway. The event, scheduled for November 22 at Liberty Park, will offer free family-sized turkeys and bread starting from 8 a.m., as reported by the City of North Las Vegas.
In a compassionate move to bring some holiday cheer to the tables of 500 families, the city joins forces with Cox and Bimbo Bakeries on a first-come, first-served basis until supplies are gone.
This year's giveaway doesn't just stop at providing the centerpiece of a traditional Thanksgiving meal. City Council members, along with a group of volunteers, will assist families by loading the provisions into their vehicles. It's a little thing, but it's an act that embodies the community's spirit as families prep for a holiday that is, at its heart, about gathering and sharing. Plus, the giveaway doubles as a resource fair where families can receive further assistance.
