The young suspect is now facing charges for aiding and abetting a crime, participating in a criminal street gang, and violating probation. The events trace back to a September 1st confrontation on Third St near Grant Ave, where two masked individuals reportedly demanded money from three men at about 9:15 PM and asked about gang affiliations. The situation quickly escalated when the victims tried to escape hastily, leading to a physical altercation. One victim, in an act of self-defense, stabbed an assailant who responded by firing a gun, grazing the victim's head. According to a statement on social media by the Novato Police Department, the subsequent arrest of two juveniles involved cooperation between the Marin Regional Crisis Response Unit and the West Sacramento Police and Yolo County Probation.
These two suspects, a 16-year-old and a 17-year-old, were arrested in different locations. The former was detained in northern Novato, and the latter was taken into custody by the West Sacramento Police. Both have been charged with attempted murder, conspiracy, and participation in a criminal street gang and booked into Marin County Juvenile Hall. Hoodline reports that a local hospital's alert about a young male with a stab wound was instrumental in connecting the injured party to the crime.
