
Following a bomb threat at 34 St-Hudson Yards, the NYPD has issued an all-clear, and 7 train service has resumed as of last night after a tense evening at Hudson Yards. According to ABC7NY, the NYPD responded to a bomb threat made around 6 p.m. As a safety measure, the train service between Grand Central-42nd Street and 34th Street-Hudson Yards had been suspended.
The NYPD acted quickly to evacuate the area, which included the iconic Vessel at Hudson Yards. A 911 call led the police to respond to the bomb threat around 33rd Street and 10th Avenue, just after 5 p.m. The area was barricaded and a secure perimeter was established, to swiftly take control of the situation. Gothamist noted several social media videos captured police directing people away from the site of the threat.
In the ensuing investigation, a person was taken into custody by police, although details concerning the identity of the individual or whether any actual device was found were not immediately released. By 8:15 p.m., authorities had reopened the Hudson Yards station and surrounding streets, initial alerts had indicated potential traffic delays and advised the public to avoid the area.
The 7 train line experienced a significant service disruption, affecting many commuters. The Metropolitan Transportation Authority had announced that there was no service between 34 St-Hudson Yards and Times Square-42nd St. Notification services, such as Notify NYC, provided timely updates to help with travel planning during the suspension.
