According to the latest ODNR update, "Peak" colors are expected to emerge in the coming weeks, but enthusiasts can already spy hints of nature's autumnal palette in some areas.
"The weather has definitely turned more fall-like with cooler temperatures, which I am hoping will help fall color progress a bit quicker now," David Parrott, ODNR Fall Color Forester, told ODNR. Patches of changing hues are spread sporadically, with some regions at "Near Peak" and others already showcasing their seasonal best. For those looking to catch a glimpse of the foliage online, ODNR has posted its fourth fall color update video on their YouTube channel.
The highlight for fall trekking is unquestionably the Hocking State Forest. The area, rich in biodiversity, features a unique blend of northern and southern flora and fauna across its 9,815 acres. The ODNR encourages visitors to explore the forest's offerings, from its multiple hiking and bridle trails to the rock climbing adventures and the scenic appeal of Table Top Rock and Fat Man's Squeeze.
