Oklahoma City residents are facing several traffic advisories as the Oklahoma Department of Transportation (ODOT) announced multiple lane closures and construction projects across the region. Drivers are advised to anticipate delays and consider alternate routes starting last night.
According to Oklahoma Department of Transportation Traffic Advisory, both northbound and southbound I-35 were reduced to one lane between Indian Hills Rd. in Norman and S. 119th St. in Moore from 8 p.m. yesterday to 5 a.m. today for surface repairs. Westbound I-44 also had lane reductions between S.W. 89th St. and SH-37 during the same period. US-77/Tecumseh Rd. was narrowed last night between Flood Ave. and N.E. 12th St./Sooner Rd. in Norman.
US-77 will continue to experience intermittent nighttime lane closures between Classen Blvd. and Main St. in Norman through early November. Eastbound Scott St. is limited to one lane between S. Scott St./Reno Ave. and S. Sunnylane Rd./Del City this morning, for maintenance work.
Ongoing projects are expected to affect traffic into 2025. Eastbound and westbound I-40 will have narrowed lanes between I-240 and Town Center Dr. in Midwest City, where limited shoulders and short merge areas may impact travel. The I-40 and I-44 interchange will also experience lane and ramp closures until fall 2025.
Other major projects include the SH-66/US-81 roundabout construction in El Reno, which will continue to limit lanes through 2025, and the SH-9W interchange project near Goldsby, which will convert the area into a Diverging Diamond Interchange with new lane widenings and roundabouts, requiring detours along Harvey Road for southbound drivers. In Moore, SH-37 will remain closed between Broadway Ave. and Tower Dr. through summer 2026 due to a railroad bridge project.
Motorists are advised to stay informed of current traffic updates and plan routes carefully to minimize delays and maintain road safety.
