Oklahoma Governor Kevin Stitt has directed state agencies to review and adjust their operations in response to the ongoing federal government shutdown. In an announcement from the Office of Governor J. Kevin Stitt website, Stitt urged agencies to implement measures to protect vulnerable populations and maintain state services despite federal disruptions.
The Governor highlighted the impact on programs such as SNAP, which serves over 922,000 Oklahomans and costs up to $142 million per month. State agencies have been asked to ensure aid reaches those most in need, including children, seniors, veterans, the disabled, and pregnant women.
Specific plans from the agencies are still being developed as Oklahoma works to maintain essential services during the federal shutdown.
