Oklahoma drivers are advised to prepare for ongoing roadwork and lane closures as the Oklahoma Department of Transportation (ODOT) continues multiple construction projects across the metro area. Motorists should expect delays and detours, with several projects extending through 2025 and beyond.
According to Oklahoma Department of Transportation (ODOT), in Norman, the northbound left lane of I-35 near Indian Hills Road will be closed nightly for surface work until tomorrow. The I-40 and I-44 interchange will also experience narrowed lanes and intermittent closures from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. for bridge and pavement rehabilitation, continuing through fall 2025. Additionally, eastbound and westbound I-40 in Midwest City will be limited to two lanes in each direction, with occasional ramp closures through next year.
Intermittent lane closures on US-77 in Norman for resurfacing, expected to last until mid-November. At the SH-66 and US-81 intersection in El Reno, traffic will be reduced to one lane in each direction due to ongoing roundabout construction through 2025.
In Moore, SH-37/S.E. 4th Street will remain closed between Broadway Avenue and Tower Drive for railroad bridge work, continuing through summer 2026. The I-35 and SH-9W interchange near Goldsby is also under construction, with periodic lane and ramp closures as part of a Diverging Diamond Interchange project scheduled for completion in early 2026.
Yukon commuters will encounter narrowed lanes on Garth Brooks Boulevard between Andrew Drive and Health Center Parkway beneath I-40 due to resurfacing, which is expected to continue through summer 2026.
Efforts are being made to limit closures during major events and high-traffic periods. Motorists are encouraged to check Oklahoma Department of Transportation’s website and traffic advisories for updates and plan alternate routes when necessary.
