The Houston Police Department is currently investigating a deadly shooting that unfolded early Sunday morning in the southwest side of the city. The incident has resulted in one fatality and injuries to three other individuals, as confirmed by the department on social media and local news reports.
Details surrounding the shooting remain hazy, with police working through evidence at two separate locations. According to Click2Houston, HPD Assistant Chief Patricia Cantu admitted, "We have a lot of missing pieces." The first call led officers to a hospital after two victims arrived seeking medical attention for gunshot wounds, claiming the incident occurred near a nightclub on Rampart Street. However, upon investigation, the scene at the nightclub appeared undisturbed.
Approximately one hour after an initial response, authorities received another call about a second shooting at a club located at 6909 Ashcroft Drive. There, officers discovered two more victims with gunshot wounds; one succumbed to their injuries at the scene, while the other was hospitalized, as per statements made by Chief Cantu and reported by Click2Houston.
The connection between the two incidents is under investigation, and it remains uncertain where the shootings exactly transpired. Meanwhile, further reporting from ABC13 indicates the second set of victims was found near El Caribe Nightclub, not far from the location on Ashcroft Drive near Gulfton.
No suspect description has been released, and no arrests have been made as of this time. HPD is urging anyone with information to come forward and contact the department's homicide detectives or CrimeStoppers.
