A downtown Minneapolis bar became the scene of tragic violence late Tuesday night, with a barrage of gunfire leaving one man dead and three others injured. According to a statement from Minneapolis Police Chief Brian O’Hara, the incident occurred on the 400 block of 4th Street South inside a local watering hole.
The Minneapolis Police Department was called to the scene at around 11:40 p.m. on October 7, where officers came upon a chaotic situation as a large crowd was reportedly engaged in physical disputes, necessitating backup from neighboring precincts and the Hennepin County Sheriff's Office, despite the efforts to contain the situation a young 21-year-old man was found with multiple gunshot wounds who succumbed to his injuries despite lifesaving attempts from officers a second man and two women also sustained injuries but were reported to be non-life-threatening. All injured parties were transported to Hennepin Healthcare for treatment.
The investigation is chiefly in the hands of MPD, with a man already arrested and booked on Obstruction charges; however, direct ties to the shooting have not led to any arrests as of yet. "This senseless violence is heartbreaking and unacceptable," declared Chief O'Hara.
Authorities are determined to pursue the perpetrators, calling on community members with information to step forward. Chief O'Hara implored via the official release, "Our investigators are working to identify everyone involved and hold those responsible accountable. Anyone who knows the identity of the person who pulled the trigger is urged to contact police." The public can contact MPD through various channels, including email at [email protected] or by phone call.
