In South Carolina, a significant child predator bust has led to the arrest of 11 individuals during a joint operation that stretched over August and September. This operation, named "Operation Huntsman," involved a collaboration between the York County Sheriff's Office and both state and federal agencies, including a role by the Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) task force alongside the South Carolina Attorney General's office.

As part of an undercover sting, the suspects were apprehended when they arrived at various locations, believing they would encounter minors, aged between 10 and 16, for sexual pursuits. According to QC News, all suspects, known as "travelers," were aiming to engage in sexual encounters with minors. Some were apprehended in private homes across York County. The operation saw between 20 and 45 officers participating at various times.

During a press conference, the York County Sheriff's Office provided a statement, obtained by WBTV, indicating, "more offenders were being identified," suggesting that the investigation may well spawn further arrests. The arrested individuals hail not only from South Carolina but also from North Carolina, Texas, and Honduras, expanding the operation's reach beyond the state lines.

One individual of note, Jonni Osman Pineda, 38, originally from Honduras, had reportedly been deported at least three times before. Following this operation, Pineda has been handed over to ICE custody, as reported by WCNC. Sheriff Tony Breeden highlighted the significance of the operation, lauding it as "a battle of good versus evil" and acknowledging the extensive hours officers invested in the investigations.

York County authorities are persevering in their efforts to shield children from these deplorable threats, with the investigation reported as ongoing, and the possibility of more charges or arrests is forthcoming. Meanwhile, the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children offers assistance through a cyber tipline for individuals encountering or suspecting child sexual abuse or related offenses.
