A 55-year-old Florida woman, Cheryl Pyle, has been arrested on charges of abusing her elderly stepmother in their shared Orlando home. On Tuesday evening, the Orange County Sheriff's Office responded to a well-being check at the residence located at 12313 Abberton Court, where they discovered an elderly victim with multiple injuries. These injuries included contusions to her eye, chin, and cheek, along with severe swelling on her face and lacerations on her hand, forearm, and elbow, FOX 35 Orlando reported.

Following the call, which was prompted by someone overhearing a life threat, the victim was taken to a local hospital, where she revealed that she had been abused by Pyle and Pyle's boyfriend since they moved into her home after her husband's death in December 2024. The victim recounted that she had been confined to her home for approximately two days by Pyle and her boyfriend. They had tied a rope from her bedroom door to the garage door to prevent her from leaving her room and took her phone and tablet away to stop her from communicating with others, WESH reported.

There have been several prior law enforcement visits to this address for domestic-related incidents and threats, as court records reveal, with no less than four calls since late July, according to WESH. One particular notable incident involving the homeowners occurred in August when they confronted a door-to-door salesman in an exchange that exploded across social media, peppered with curse words and racial slurs. Yet, resulting from this incident, no charges were filed.
