The Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation (OSBI) is currently examining the circumstances of an officer-involved shooting that took place at the Duncan Inn Motel in Duncan, Oklahoma, as reported by KFOR. Law enforcement officers were dispatched to the scene yesterday following reports of gunfire, only to encounter a male suspect brandishing a firearm.
Despite multiple commands from officers, the suspect failed to cooperate, leading to an eventual shooting by the police — the suspect was consequently transported to a local hospital and was described as in critical condition, OKC FOX detailed the series of events that unfolded, noting that the engagement between the suspect and officers was necessitated by the latter's refusal to comply.
A more comprehensive narrative was provided by KSWO, which described the situation as an hours-long standoff: officers from the Duncan Police Department had initially been called out at 8:43 a.m. after the suspect discharged a weapon within one of the motel's rooms, resulting in a standoff and the motel's closure to ensure public safety.
The confrontation eventually reached its climax when, according to officers, "the suspect, who had fired shots earlier in the morning, pointed a rifle at police and that’s when an officer fired and shot the suspect," Duncan police offered aid to the wounded before he was taken to the hospital.
