An officer-involved shooting occurred during a parole compliance check in Palm Springs, California, leaving a parolee and a state agent injured. The incident took place on the 2700 block of East Vista Chino at around 11:36 a.m., October 27, as confirmed by the Riverside Sheriff's Department in a recent press release.
According to the report, the parolee assaulted the parole agent, which resulted in him being shot. The Palm Springs Police Department officers provided first aid until paramedics arrived. The wounded parolee was subsequently transported to a local hospital and is anticipated to make a recovery. As is standard procedure, the parolee's identity has been withheld during the ongoing investigation.
The parole agent sustained non-lethal injuries and received treatment at the scene. In the interest of preserving the integrity of the investigation, the agent's name has also not been released. The Riverside County Sheriff's Force Investigation Detail took charge of the case, further investigating the circumstances leading up to the shooting.
