
A Tuesday evening traffic incident has resulted in a pedestrian being hospitalized and the closure of part of Nellis Boulevard. KTNV reports that around 6:45 p.m., a car traveling northbound on Nellis Boulevard when a collision occurred with a pedestrian attempting to cross outside of a marked crosswalk.
The incident left the pedestrian with injuries, the severity of which was at the time not disclosed. Staying at the crime scene, the driver involved was not believed to have been impaired, as mentioned by News 3 Las Vegas. This portion of Nellis Boulevard, stretching between Desert Inn Road and Mount Rushmore Parkway, was shut down following the accident affecting traffic in both directions.
Authorities are actively investigating the circumstances surrounding the crash. Both local news outlets note that the driver cooperated with law enforcement upon their arrival. There has been no immediate update on the condition of the individual who was taken to a local hospital.
As of this writing, with the investigation in process, it's unclear when this section of Nellis Boulevard will reopen to vehicular passage. While the road remains sealed off by the police, motorists are urged to seek alternative routes, preventing further disruptions, as first responders work the scene.
