In a pair of incidents separated by just days, Phoenix homeowners turned to guns to confront alleged intruders, leaving one man injured and another dead. As reported by FOX 10 Phoenix, a north Phoenix homeowner shot an adult male suspect during an alleged burglary near 40th Avenue and Cactus Road on Thursday morning. The suspect, whose name has yet to be released, was hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries.

The Phoenix Police Department arrived at the scene around 10:40 a.m. to find the injured man. “When officers arrived, they located an adult male with at least one gunshot wound. The man was transported to a nearby hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.  It was learned that the man committed a burglary at a nearby home, when he was shot by a homeowner," police reported. The investigation into this incident is actively ongoing, with no further details immediately made available.

In a separate event, a central Phoenix homeowner reportedly shot and killed a man during an attempted burglary. This incident occurred early Sunday morning, near 7th and Glendale avenues, as stated in an article from ABC 15. The homeowner, who was at home with his children at the time, called 911 to report that an individual was trying to forcibly enter his property.

While still on the phone with 911, the homeowner discharged his weapon, fatally wounding the suspect on his property. The man has been identified as 25-year-old Kwame Hightower. He was pronounced dead at the scene. Following the altercation, the homeowner was released from police custody pending further investigations by the Maricopa County Attorney's Office. Neither homeowner has been charged as of now, and both shootings are under review by authorities.
