Eight seniors from Pickerington Local Schools (PLSD) have recently been named Commended Students in the National Merit Scholarship Program for 2026. These students are among an elite group recognized for their exceptional academic promise demonstrated by their performance on the Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test (PSAT/NMSQT).
Acknowledgments have been given to the students from the two high schools within the district, esteemed for their scholarly capabilities. According to a statement obtained by the district's news release, "Our four Commended Scholars exemplify what it means to be part of Tiger Nation," expressed Pickerington High School Central Principal Roshawn Parker. He continued, "They consistently model Trust, Integrity, and Empathy both in and out of the classroom. I hope this honor reminds them that perseverance and character pave the way for future success—we celebrate their hard work and can’t wait to see where their talents take them next!"
The Commended Students designation does not accompany a financial reward from the National Merit Scholarship Program. However, it provides students with a notable addition to their academic portfolios. Such recognition could play a crucial role in college admissions and subsequent scholarship opportunities.
