A somber atmosphere pervades Pittsburgh's South Side Flats neighborhood following a fatal shooting inside Bonez Barbershop, as 25-year-old Myairah Carter faces criminal homicide charges for the death of 26-year-old Rayon Williams. Information gathered from WPXI confirms the tragic event occurred on East Carson Street in a place normally associated with camaraderie and community.
Based on the owner Ramone Paerce's account, the altercation started as an argument between two customers who knew each other. Court documents allege that Carter and the woman she's accused of shooting, Williams, were entangled in a dispute that originated back in 2023. "I’m just heartbroken somebody lost their life in my business," Paerce said, as per WPXI. Moments before the gunfire, reports imply that the situation escalated as the victim confronted Carter, who was seated at the time.
As for the harrowing moment of the shooting, Paerce described, as detailed by WTAE, "Shots rang out. Everybody ran to the back. I was pushed over in the corner a little bit. Looking around, I seen the lady wielding the firearm. I asked her to please just go. She still had a cape around her neck." Emergency responders performed CPR on Williams, but she succumbed to her injuries at a nearby hospital.
The fight quickly turned the barbershop from a hangout spot into a crime scene. Carter is now in jail, and the community is left coping with the effects of the deadly incident.
