The Plymouth Police Department is at it once again, engaging the public with what could be considered a civic-minded version of 'finders keepers.' But in a twist that leans more towards 'losers weepers', they're actively trying to reunite a found item, a specific red and black bike, with its rightful owner. After discovering the two-wheeler in Pinehills near the apartment complexes, the department took to social media with a call to action, hoping to leverage the community's reach to solve this minor mystery.
In a message that blends a touch of humor with a dash of earnestness, the PPD posted about their efforts to find the bike's owner—without success. "We have no way of finding its perspective owner, though our officers did try!" declared the Plymouth Police Department in a Facebook post. And in a personalized twist, they give a clue as to who the owner might be: "Does your name start with 'L'?! If so, we think we have your bike and we’d really like to get it back to you."
The police department's playful outreach is more than just an attempt to clear out the lost and found. It’s a representation of a community policing ethos, building relationships between officers and the wards they patrol through the banal minutiae of everyday life. If you, or perhaps an 'L'-named child you know, has recently parted ways with a red and black bike, Detective Mason of the Plymouth Police Department awaits your call. They can be reached at 508-830-4218 ext. 15254 during business hours. Or for those who prefer face-to-face interactions, visiting the station with a detailed description to claim the bike and accompanying helmet is just as welcome.
