Porter Mother Faces Murder Charges After Discovery of Ammo, Fake Documents, and Eerie Pre-Dawn Gunfire

Tragedy struck a Porter family, with new details emerging about the mother accused of shooting her four children, two of whom were killed in the tragic incident. Oninda Romelus, 31, is facing charges including two counts of murder and two counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, according to information provided by KPRC 2. Romelus is currently being held in Brazoria County Jail on a $14 million bond.

Search warrants executed at Romelus' home not only led to the discovery of ammunition and electronics, but also a trove of allegedly fraudulent documents. As per the search warrants obtained by KPRC 2, investigators seized 33 social security cards, 48 identification cards, and 16 credit cards among other items. Detectives surmise these materials could be linked to criminal identity theft, adding complexity to an already dark case.

In a heinous act that has left the community reeling, Romelus is accused of shooting her children inside a car at a gas station. Officials say the shots were fired in the early hours of the morning, and when deputies arrived at the scene, they found Romelus with her four children, all suffering from gunshot wounds. KHOU 11 reported that a neighbor's surveillance video showed figures consistent with small children leaving the residence at around 2:39 a.m. last Saturday morning, a mere couple of hours before the 911 call Romelus made from a location approximately 65 miles away.

Romelus' statements following her arrest have been both chilling and cryptic. "Instead of them doing it to me, I'm gonna do it to them," she allegedly mentioned, before equating her actions to "kill them all." These comments were reported in court documents and obtained by both KPRC 2 and KHOU 11, painting a chilling portrait of the mother's mindset at the time of the shooting.
