Investigative efforts may have finally shed light on a missing person case that has remained unresolved for almost four years. Skeletal remains found in Queens, believed to be those of Richard "Max" Albright, a 69-year-old nurse who disappeared in 2021, were discovered late Monday afternoon near a bustling strip mall in College Point.

The somber discovery, made by a city survey crew working along 20th Avenue in Flushing, was comprised of a male human skull, a leg bone, and a hip bone. The remains were found in a parking lot at 134-01 20th Ave., tucked behind a chain fence directly across from retail giants like Target and Home Goods. Even as the medical examiner's office has yet to officially confirm the bones to belong definitively to Albright, a wallet found at the scene – nearby the remains – is believed to have been his, according to ABC7NY.

Richard Albright, who worked at the Hospital for Special Surgery, was last seen leaving his Jackson Heights home on October 14, 2021. His disappearance sparked a long and arduous quest for answers by his family, particularly his wife, Cathy Albright. Desperate for closure, Cathy Albright said in an interview with PIX11 News, "I’m shocked, but I’m also very glad. The not knowing is the hardest part. It’s been almost four years," as reported by New York Post.

While the investigation is still ongoing, Cathy believes that her husband likely suffered a medical episode due to being on blood thinners after three open heart surgeries. She revealed to have hired a private detective, who found that Richard bought a 30-day Metro card and took a public bus on the day he went missing. However, no evidence has thus far been made public to either support or contradict her belief of no foul play involved. She further elaborated on the events leading up to her husband's disappearance, noting that Richard had been experiencing pain in his feet, "shuffling around in a pair of slider slippers," as she told PIX11 News. With these findings, Cathy Albright holds on to hope to soon be able to to finally find peace in the truth of her husband's fate, as per New York Post.
