Brace yourselves, Pueblo drivers, the next few nights on I-25 are going to be a bit of a detour dance, courtesy of a bridge demolition party. The Colorado Department of Transportation (CDOT) and SEMA Construction are taking down the US 50B bridge, which will see the interstate shuttered during the graveyard shift. According to CDOT, these closures are set to happen between November 7 and 10, with specific hours to look out for if you're planning to hit the road after dark.

Starting at 9 p.m. on November 7, I-25 will be closed in both directions at Exit 100A, and it won't reopen until 9 a.m. the next day. The same closure protocol will follow through the weekend, wrapping up early Monday morning. To get around these closures, southbound travelers should use CO 47, hit CO 96, and then take Santa Fe Avenue and 13th Street to slip back onto I-25. Northbound vehicles are routed via the off-ramp to eastbound US 50B and then redirected to CO 47.

It's all part of a bigger plan, a $114 million redesign for the I-25/US 50B interchange aiming to wrap up by early summer 2027. Shane Ferguson, CDOT Regional Transportation Director, mapped it out clearly: "Removal of the US 50B bridge over I-25 is integral to advancing the I-25/US 50B interchange project," he said, as per CDOT. Five new bridge structures, ramp reconstructions, and several other improvements are on the docket to turn this interchange into a diverging diamond that promises smoother rides in the future.
