Residents of Rancho Cordova are now navigating a new traffic circle and roundabout at Lincoln Village Drive and Baroque Drive, marking the completion of the city's latest traffic calming project. According to the City of Rancho Cordova's announcement, these installations aim to foster safer streets and smoother traffic flow by promoting reduced speeds and eliminating the need for stop-and-go driving.

"Traffic circles and roundabouts are an innovative way to improve neighborhood safety and traffic flow," said Edgar Media, Public Works Engineer, during a city statement. Built on community requests, this traffic mitigation measure at Lincoln Village Drive includes speed lumps and bulb-outs, while Baroque Drive now features revamped crosswalks and narrowed lanes to curb speeding, as stated by the City of Rancho Cordova. The Public Works Department has ensured that the circle and roundabout system will facilitate a continuous movement of vehicles with yield control coming into effect at side entries.

With the new traffic patterns in place, Public Works has provided guidelines for drivers: Slow down when approaching the circle, yield to traffic already circulating, and use turn signals when exiting. Completed in October, these improvements are just part of the city's broader initiative to make Rancho Cordova's streets safer and more efficient.
