The Rancho Cordova Police Department (RCPD) took to social media to report a swift resolution to a series of auto burglaries in a local neighborhood, attributing their success to sharp police work and advanced technology. The burglaries, which took place off of Sunrise Boulevard, were reported last week, prompting an investigation. According to the Rancho Cordova Police Department's Facebook post, officers were tipped off about a possible silver suspect vehicle with two individuals involved in the criminal activity.
Utilizing License Plate Recognition technology and the Real Time Information Center, law enforcement officials managed to deduce the car's details including its license plate, make, and model; this led them to locate the vehicle at a nearby supermarket where the suspects were caught trying to use a stolen credit card, the suspects returned to their vehicle, and that was when Rancho Cordova Police Department officers stepped in, detaining the duo for further investigation. A search of the vehicle unearthed several stolen items linked to the vehicle burglaries along with a high capacity magazine and live ammunition, both of which were illegal for the suspects to possess.
The successful apprehension of the suspects prevented further victimization of the community, as highlighted by the Rancho Cordova Police Department's statement: "Thanks to excellent teamwork on the ground, and the utilization of new crime prevention and investigative technology, RCPD was able to stop and arrest these suspects before anyone else in our community was victimized!" Both individuals were arrested on multiple felony charges and transported to the Sacramento County Jail.
