Las Vegas's Durango Casino & Resort, owned by Red Rock Resorts, is poised for a significant expansion, with a new $385 million project on the horizon set to begin in January. The venture aims to introduce a 36-lane bowling alley, luxury movie theaters, new dining options, and a variety of entertainment venues, as announced by the company earlier this week. According to 8 News Now, the project is slated for completion within 18 months.
The forthcoming phase 2 of the resort’s growth will also include an expansion of the casino area, incorporating an additional 400 slot machines. As part of the initial phase of expansion, which is expected to conclude in December, the casino will launch 230 new slot machines—120 of which will be featured in a new high-limit area and bar. "Guests really have taken to the property and we’ve been very happy with the results so far," Lorenzo Fertitta, director of Red Rock Resorts, told 8 News Now.
Details released by FOX5 Vegas reinforce the scale of the expansion, highlighting a planned 270,000-square-foot addition on the resort's north end that promises a menu of new amenities. Phase 2, set for completion this December, paves the way for this sizeable development by adding to existing parking and casino areas, including the high-limit slot and bar area mentioned.
Red Rock Resorts has much to celebrate, with its Las Vegas properties scoring a ninth consecutive record for net revenue in the third quarter at $468.6 million, and adjusted earnings hitting a record $209.4 million, marking the fifth straight quarter of such success. "The one thing that our customer base expects is all these other entertainment amenities like movie theaters and bowling and things of this nature," CEO and chairman Frank Fertitta III said in a statement obtained by 8 News Now. Further phases might see hotel and convention space expansions at Durango, although scheduling for such projects remains unspecified.
Station Casinos is also engaged in renovation projects at its other properties. Sunset Station is currently undergoing a $53 million upgrade that includes a new country-western bar/nightclub and a Mexican restaurant. At Green Valley Ranch, a comprehensive refresh is underway, with completion of the west tower rooms anticipated for mid-November, and east tower renovations carrying into summer of 2026. An announcement pertaining to future development sites from the company is expected later in January, as corporate strategies are adapted to the evolving demands of their clientele.
