The Jackson County Sheriff's Office has resumed a search in Edna, Texas, for a girl who went missing in December 2022. According to KHOU, investigators focused on the area near Mexico Street and East Cedar Street, just south of Highway 59, beginning early Wednesday morning in response to new leads.
The girl’s identity has not been disclosed. FOX26 Houston reported that at least one cadaver dog was used in the search, which began around 6 a.m. and involved digging at the site. The Edna Police Department is assisting in the investigation.
Authorities have not released information about the specific leads that prompted the renewed search. KHOU noted that Chief Deputy Derrick Bermea stated there is no threat to public safety and that updates will be provided as the investigation continues. The case remains ongoing, with law enforcement pursuing all available leads.
