Children and literature fans in Cobb County were treated to a special Preschool Storytime this past Wednesday at the Switzer Library. Renowned children's book author and illustrator Rosemary Wells, known for her prolific work including the Max and Ruby series, took center stage during Literacy Week 2025. The event, sponsored by Cobb EMC and Gas South, drew in a crowd eager to engage with the acclaimed storyteller.
During the event, Wells delighted attendees by reading from her book The Little Chefs, which features three stories about the culinary adventures and misadventures of its characters. She also chose to exclusively reveal for the first time ever before an audience, her upcoming picture book focused on instilling the virtues of kindness and positive behavior in children—a fitting message for our youngest generation to carry throughout their lives.
According to a news release by Cobb County Government Communications, the Literacy Week 2025 initiative aims to promote reading and literacy amongst children—an endeavor that Wells's appearance undoubtedly supported. Her involvement served not only to entertain but to educate and inspire the young attendees through her stories.
Rosemary Wells's contribution to children's literature cannot be understated, having authored over 120 books.
