A 28-year-old man from River Rouge has been pronounced dead following a single-vehicle crash on the Southfield Freeway near Schoolcraft Road in Redford Township, as confirmed by Michigan State Police. The fatal incident occurred last Friday, at around 9:40 p.m., when authorities were alerted to a vehicle obstructing the left lane.
Upon arrival at the scene, state troopers discovered the man trapped in the car and promptly initiated first aid measures after finding he was not breathing and had no pulse. Audacy's local coverage states that troopers used an Automated External Defibrillator (AED) and performed CPR in an attempt to revive him. The man was subsequently transferred to a local hospital by Superior Ambulance, but unfortunately did not survive.
No further information regarding the man's identity has been shared by officials as of yet. Michigan State Police have withheld details about the cause of the crash pending the outcome of an ongoing investigation. "The freeway was closed for a few hours to complete the on-scene investigation," F/Lt. Mike Shaw remarked, per FOX 2 Detroit.
