Three women were taken to hospitals after a Chevrolet Tahoe rolled on southbound I-75 near Schaefer Road early Sunday, according to MLive. Two occupants, including the driver, were ejected; a third was trapped inside and had to be extricated. Police had not provided details about the severity of their injuries.
Speed appears in the preliminary account, but investigators have not established what caused the driver to lose control. MLive reported that Michigan State Police suspected the Tahoe was traveling at a high rate of speed before it struck a concrete barrier and rolled multiple times. The three women were the vehicle’s only occupants, and the circumstances remain under investigation.
Statewide data provides context, not a cause
Michigan State Police’s 2024 statewide report lists “Speed Too Fast” 22,473 times as a hazardous action reported for traffic crashes. The report counts reported actions, not crashes; the figure is not specific to freeways and does not establish what caused this collision.
