A gas leak prompted the early dismissal of students at a Robinson Township Catholic school today. The local emergency services, including People’s Gas employees and Moon Run firefighters, were dispatched to Archangel Gabriel Catholic School following reports of a gas leak. According to WPXI, the students were safely evacuated to the neighboring church.
The incident caused significant disruption as parents quickly arrived to collect their children. "We got notified there was a gas leak and they were evacuating them to the church,” Brianna Williams, the mother of a first-grader, told WPXI. “Then we got a message that, out of an abundance of caution, they are going to release students and to come pick them up, so here we are." No injuries were reported as a result of the leak, but the school took immediate steps to ensure the safety of its occupants.
According to WTAE, the source of the gas leak was still being investigated, and officials are working diligently not only to find but also to promptly address the root cause of the odor.
